Rural communities and big cities in America have benefited from the contributions of immigrants for centuries. Who are the immigrants among us today and how is federal action impacting households and neighborhoods? What are the consequences of Department of Homeland Security policies and Immigration and Customs Enforcement practices— not only for immigrants, but for U.S. citizens?

Janice Butler is a Lewisburg resident. She retired from Bucknell University where she worked as Director of Civic Engagement and Service-Learning for 16 years and director of the Women's Resource Center for 14 years. She is a member of the League of Women Voters, volunteers with the Bucknell Institute for Lifelong Learning (BILL), and is involved with the newly formed Snyder Union Northumberland Immigrant Support group.

Nick Moffa is an immigration attorney who has practiced throughout Maryland and Virginia. In his previous role with the Amica Center for Immigrant Rights, he represented unaccompanied immigrant children in immigration and state court, with a particular focus on working with children detained in federal government custody. Nick earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.

The meeting will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2025 from 4:00-5:30 p.m., at the Public Library for Union County Community Room, 255 Reitz Boulevard, Lewisburg, PA  17837.  Doors open at 3:30 p.m.
