The League of Women Voters of the Lewisburg Area’s Educational Forum series will continue with an online-only presentation on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 by Dara Purvis, Esquire, Associate Dean and Professor of Law, Penn State Law at University Park.  Professor Purvis will address the legal ramifications of the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent abortion rights case in her talk on “Roe, Dobbs and What’s Next: Law of Privacy Today”

League members and the general public are invited to attend virtually and observe the talk via Zoom.

Professor of Law Dara E. Purvis is a scholar of family law, feminist legal theory, masculinities, and sexuality, gender identity, and the law.  Her work examines gendered impacts of the law and proposes neutralizing reforms, most recently in the context of how the law defines parenthood. She is also the Associate Dean of Research and Partnerships.  Professor Purvis has a J.D. from Yale University and a M.Phil. from University of Cambridge.

The meeting is open to members and the general public.  League membership is not required to participate in these programs and all are welcome. 

The meeting will be held as a virtual talk on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at 12 o’clock noon on the Zoom meeting platform.  All must pre register to get the meeting link and login by emailing LWVLAForum [at] gmail.com no later than Sunday, March 19, 2023.

The Zoom meeting room will open at 11:30 a.m.  Pre-registered individuals are encouraged to sign into the virtual meeting room no later than 11:45 to ensure they are admitted and their settings are correct.  Virtual participants will be able to submit questions in the chat function, but will be muted and unable to interact directly with the speaker
