National-Level Actions
No one is above the law! Tell Congress That Federal Immigration Enforcement Has Gone Too Far.
From LWVUS: “For months, communities across the country, in Minnesota and beyond, have lived in terror as federal immigration enforcement agents have patrolled, surveilled, detained, disappeared, injured, and killed civilians, as well as denied people’s constitutional rights by attacking and arresting peaceful protestors. Yet Congress — our elected officials — has played a pivotal role in funding and enabling this government-manufactured crisis, and they must act to stop these attacks.
We need you to stand with the League to demand that:
- Senators reject additional funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), or immigration detention, and impose additional agency guardrails and accountability measures;
- Congress investigates ICE, CBP, and the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS's) use of force;
- Congress takes steps to protect civilians' constitutional rights to peacefully protest and assemble without their lives being threatened or taken.

Tell your US legislators to support the national Right to Read Act
EveryLibrary asks that you send a postcard to your US legislators (Rep. Sheri Biggs, Sen. Lindsey Graham, and Sen. Tim Scott) asking them to support the national Right to Read Act.
EveryLibrary has provided a sample message to send to our legislators:
The Right to Read Act (H.R. 6440 / S. 3365) expands federal investment in literacy, strengthens school library staffing and collections, supports family literacy programs, and protects students' freedom to access diverse materials in their schools. At a time when reading scores for nine-year-olds have fallen to their lowest level since 1990, while book bans reach historic levels, this bill meets the urgency of the moment with evidence-based solutions. Please support it today!
Received from Pendleton Area Advocates for Intellectual Freedom.

Support the S.70 bill on School Board Ethics
This bill proposes that the State Board of Education adopt a model code of ethics for local school board members, that local school boards should adopt a local code of ethics for all meetings, and that training would be provided. The League supports this bill. Read the League Testimony.
Attend 2026 Reproductive Health Advocacy Day
State House grounds, Tuesday, February 24, 9 am-1:30 pm
Sponsored by the South Carolina Healthy Families Coalition
“Reproductive healthcare in the Palmetto State hangs by a thread, but we have the power to make our voices heard with our elected officials. South Carolina lawmakers need to hear our message loud and clear - no bans on our healthcare.” Sign up and to find out more.
Contact your local legislators on access to abortion-inducing medications, the “Bathroom bill” and parental rights.
- H. 4760 restricting access to abortion-inducing medications remains active. Email the House Judiciary Committee and its members to vote no on this harmful bill.
- "Bathroom bill" H.4756 is unnecessary and puts cisgender students at risk of bullying and harassment.
- Parental rights are important, but the requirements of H.4757 would be a significant burden on teachers and schools.
Learn more on these current issues at the statehouse.
