Earlier this year the League of Women Voters of Oconee and Pickens Counties (LWVOP) Book Club read and discussed The Shadow Docket: How the Supreme Court Uses Stealth Rulings to Amass Power and Undermine the Republic by Stephen Vladeck.  Attendees proposed to widen the participation and continue the discussion with a program for members and the public to address issues raised during the Book Club discussion.

Our speaker, Chip Stapleton, will provide an overview of what the Justices have in store for us during the coming term, talk about transparency and accountability that is so important to democracy, explain the Supreme Court Shadow Docket and make suggestions for reform.  

Chip Stapleton is a retired government relations executive consultant with extensive experience in both public and private organizations in the New Jersey area before moving to South Carolina. Chip was the chairman of the Clemson University Osher Lifelong Learning Institute where he has also presented programs about the courts.
