Voting in the June 25th Republican Runoff Primary

Voting in the June 25th Republican Runoff Primary

Voting

You must have been registered to vote by May 12th to vote in the June Runoff Primary. You may register to vote now for the General Election at your county election office or online at www.scvotes.gov. To register to vote online, you will need your S.C. driver's license or ID issued by the S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and your Social Security number. You will receive your registration card within 2 – 3 weeks.

Why should I vote in the runoff? Turnout is often low in the primary so your vote can make a difference. Often the winner of the primary has no opposition in the general election, so voting in the primary is your best chance to affect the result.

What is a Runoff? In a primary, a candidate must receive a majority of votes cast to win. If no candidate has a majority, then the two candidates with the highest number of votes will appear in a runoff two weeks after the date of the primary (June 25th).

What do I need to bring to vote?  You will need a Photo ID. Acceptable IDs include:

  • SC Driver's License - includes standard license and REAL ID
  • SC Department of Motor Vehicles ID Card - includes standard ID card, REAL ID and includes SC Concealed Weapons Permit
  • SC Voter Registration Card with Photo
  • Federal Military ID - includes all Department of Defense Photo IDs and Veterans Affairs Benefits Card
  • U.S. Passport - includes U.S. Passport ID Card
