It’s August, fewer than 100 days to the election, and there’s lots to do! It’s also the Centennial of the 19th Amendment, with many commemorations. (Click here for the PDF or see attachment below).

• You’ll want to be part of this month’s Community Conversations, on “Women of Color Activists Then and Now”, hosted on Zoom. And don’t forget the ongoing discussions on suffrage films, “Sips and Conversations”, every Wednesday in August.
• Looking ahead to the election, we have a plan – in fact, we have several plans, as Suzan reports in her August President’s Letter.
• For more details on how we plan to create new virtual Voter Services for this most unusual election season, see Suzan’s explanation and call for volunteers, and Kay’s excellent description of how to participate in the latest version of Pros & Cons.
• Of course, online Voter Services is what Voter’s Edge has been all about for years now – Marian gives a helpful backgrounder plus the schedule for how it gets put together. You can help!
• On the Action side of the picture, it’s time to come out swinging on Proposition 15 (Schools and Communities First) because the opposition isn’t waiting. Carol gives some suggestions on what you can do.
• You might want to put the September meeting of the Action/Advocacy Committee on your calendar now – it always comes so early in the month that you might miss it, and there’s a lot happening there every meeting. Then update yourself with a brief Lafayette observer report.
• If you are curious about what gets done at Board meetings, take a look at the new Board Briefs with the highlights of recent Board activities. Also, Sue has an update on what is happening with the Board discussions based on “Waking Up White”.
• Finally, and I know you were waiting for this, we have a new suffragist and she’s a member of royalty! Wilhelmina Kekelaokalaninui Widemann Dowsett – an impressive name, an impressive life, and an impressive hat (you have to see the hat!)

• The One Woman One Vote Film Festival is offering a national online event on August 10, 2020 at 6 pm EDT, showing the film “RBG”. August 10th is the 27th anniversary of the day Ruth Bader Ginsburg was sworn in as a Supreme Court Justice. One of the directors, Betsy West, will be a guest at the event. • From LWVUS (DATE CHANGED): Continuing the #WomenPowertheVote movement, we will kick off the series on August 17th with a conversation between Chief Executive Officer Virginia Kase and President Deborah Ann Turner on Facebook Live at 1 p.m. EDT. We will be discussing what lies ahead for democracy in America, and how all women can be active participants. 
• The Financial Women of San Francisco are hosting the premier of the film "Passing the Torch: 100 Years of Herstory" on Wednesday, August 26th at 7:00 p.m. This film was produced to honor and celebrate women who have achieved so much over the past 100 years and to pass the torch to all who continue the ongoing work to advance women.
