From THE SAN MATEO COUNTY LIBRARIES:

Dear Community,

We are proud to launch a new Equity Author Series highlighting authors who write about equity in housing, immigration, education, and LGBTQIA+ issues. For the first event in this series, join our author talk on housing equity with Richard Rothstein, author of The Color of Law, on Monday, March 15 at 4:00 PM. The presentation will be introduced by our Governing Board member and East Palo Alto City Council member Regina Wallace-Jones.

The Color of Law is a groundbreaking and bestselling book that reveals the disturbing, misunderstood history of residential segregation in America. Rothstein's work counters a pervasive belief that racial segregation was caused by unscrupulous real estate agents and other individualized practices, and is instead the byproduct of explicit policies at all levels of government.

Register in advance to delve into the history of residential segregation during Rothstein's virtual author talk. Then, on Wednesday, March 24 at 6:00 PM, join us for a community conversation on equitable housing in San Mateo County with community organization Home for All. Free copies of The Color of Law will be available at all our libraries while supplies last during Curbside Services beginning Thursday, March 4.
