Advocacy

LWV Protest Outside Supreme Court Building - women holding LWV Banner and signs that read People over PoliticsAdvocacy refers to supporting or promoting a particular cause, idea, policy, or group of people to bring about change, influence decisions, or address specific issues.

The League will advocate for a particular issue after researching and discussing the issue. Our advocacy is unbiased and looks at the effect of a specific issue on every citizen. We seek fair and balanced ways to support various local, state, and national positions.

At a local level, you can review the League’s position on the following issues:

Action

To reach [the League’s aim], study is not enough, becoming experts is not enough. Good citizenship requires not only knowledge but ability to act.

Action is always based on current League positions and/or League Principles.

Action taken on Legislative bills and ballot measures can take the form of contacting elected government officials or aligning ourselves with like-minded, unbiased organizations.
