About Juneteenth
Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. From its Galveston, Texas origin in 1865, the observance of June 19 as the African American Emancipation Day has spread across the United States and beyond. Juneteenth commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement.
If your time permits, please join us as a volunteer to help run a nonpartisan voter education table at the Belle Haven Juneteenth Celebration! Let us know which shift you can attend via email (see contact info below) by June 13, and we will send out a final briefing message beforehand.
