We stand for democracy—not monarchy.

For 105 years, the League of Women Voters has worked to empower voters and defend democracy. That mission is more urgent than ever. “No Kings” is more than a slogan—it reflects the foundation of our nation: government by the people, not the rule of one. From bustling city streets to rural town squares, people are uniting to protect democracy from threats of authoritarianism.

No one—not even a president—is above the law. In America, we do not have kings. We will not allow corruption, chaos, or cruelty to undermine our democracy. Together, we stand firm—#DefendingDemocracy and #EmpoweringVoters for generations to come.

At the heart of every “No Kings” event is a commitment to nonviolent action. Participants are expected to act lawfully, engage respectfully, and de-escalate any potential conflicts with those who may disagree. For everyone’s safety, weapons of any kind—even if legally permitted—must not be brought to these events.

If you are representing the League or wearing LWV shirts (which we encourage), please use good judgment when creating signs and participating in nonpartisan chants.
