LWV is turning 103 on February 14! Celebrate over a century of empowering voters and defending democracy by joining a virtual pep rally, alongside advocacy partners and special performers. Registration is recommended.

The theme of Fairfield University’s Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration – “Social Justice Now” – invokes this idea of the “now” and invites us to consider what it means in 2023. In light of our current challenges – from climate change to the persistence of white supremacy, the suppression of voting rights, and ongoing struggles against racial inequities - Dr. King’s warned against taking “the tranquilizing drug of gradualism” and urged us to choose action against complacency and pessimism. The Convocation Speaker, Karsonya “Kaye” Wise Whitehead is the founding director of The Karson Institute for Race, Peace & Social Justice and an associate professor of communication and African and African American Studies at Loyola University Maryland. Join LWV Greenwich for a conversation with David Lehman, former Senior Economic Advisor to Governor Lamont and Commissioner of the CT Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD). There will be a presentation by Mr. Lehman followed by questions from the audience. You may submit questions in advance when you register or during the webinar via the Q&A function. Join LWV of Norwalk for a Meet and Greet! The event topic is "Misinformation Harms American Democracy", presented by Attorney Mekela Panditharatne and Dr. Maya Kornberg, both of the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU Law School. This event is free and open to all members of the public, candidates who ran for office in 2022 and Norwalk's elected officials and members of city boards and commissions.
