Join us for a virtual discussion of the powerful story Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption. This bestselling book by Bryan Stevenson, a distinguished NYU law professor, offers the compelling story of the legal practice he founded to protect the rights of people on the margins of American society. This discussion group is created in partnership by the Mark Twain Library and the Redding League of Women Voters in an effort to offer our community an opportunity to continue the conversation on race.

Why was the ERA proposed? Why was it controversial? Would you have voted for or against ratification of the ERA if you were a state legislator at the time? Take part in an engaging community conversation that will have you step into the shoes of women’s rights advocates as they worked to secure the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA).
