The League of Women Voters of Delaware has launched an end-of-year fundraising appeal in December 2021, casting a wider net than just our membership by publishing it on our social media channels. The appeal letter from LWVDE President Gwendolyn Miller highlights League accomplishments over the past year and reaffirms our commitment to continue working for the community in 2022:
Our Members and Friends:
Great news! Despite the challenges of Covid-19, the League of Women Voters of Delaware has experienced a productive year––one that would not have been a success without you. Thank you for everything you do and for your commitment to our organization.
And yes, it’s that time of year again. We are counting on your financial support!
In the upcoming year, we will continue to act as a force to create positive, lasting change in our communities by:
• Empowering voters to protect their right to vote and to have that vote count,
• Bridging the partisan divide by fostering civil discourse on topics of community interest, such as redistricting, and
• Educating citizens and fostering dialogue surrounding important issues from healthcare and climate change to immigration, education reform, and affordable housing. With your kind support, we can continue to strengthen our communities through these, and more, programs. Know that when you partner with us, your contribution goes directly to the League’s fight to protect and defend our democracy.
We continue to advocate for positive change on issues that impact us all, such as land use, education reform, government transparency, and accountability. Areas of particular focus for our advocacy this past year were climate change and the environment, criminal justice, funding of public education, fair and free elections, and equality for all. Our Advocacy Corps is continuing its work of monitoring activity by the state legislature. During the January–June 2021 session, approximately one hundred bills in areas of concern to the League were analyzed, with testimony presented to legislators, as appropriate.
Not everyone is able to regularly attend sessions held at the Delaware Legislative Hall. Not everyone can help others participate in Making Democracy Work®, a nationwide program in advancing core democracy issues. What we can do is show support and dedication to this organization. Your generous contribution will allow us to continue our work and prosper.
The League of Women Voters of Delaware and the LWVDE Education Fund are merged into a single 501(c)(3) entity, thus all donations are tax deductible. Your monetary support can be made by personal check or through PayPal.
Thank you in advance for supporting our efforts.
