League members are encouraged to join LWVUS on September 3rd in Washington, DC, from 3 to 4 pm, to bring together League members and members of Congress and their staff to discuss the collective work to be done in support of Cultivating Champions for Democracy. At this event in the Capitol Visitor Center, we will hear from members of Congress speaking about their office’s commitment to preserving and strengthening our democracy. NOTE: The Capitol Visitor Center, the main entrance to the U.S. Capitol, is located beneath the East Front plaza of the U.S. Capitol at First Street and East Capitol Street. LWV CEO Celina Stewart stated the organization's stance on Mid-Cycle Redistricting this morning (August 20) on CNN's Early Morning. "But make no mistake, should states engage in this and courts allow it to move forward, then the League will do what we have always done. We will make sure that there is public input. We will be pushing to make sure that the process has transparency and accountability in it. We are already around the country with observer corps watching and listening to see how these things are going to play out." Click Read More to watch the video.

Sussex LWV will have an information table at the September 6 IMPACT Festival in Bridgeville. We will distribute information about the League, Membership, and Voter Services, and also offer information about Voter Registration, Vote411, and upcoming events. We'll also offer to assist with voter registration if needed. Parking is available on site. Six volunteers are needed - 3 for each of two shifts - 8:30 am to 12:00 pm OR 12:00 pm to 2 pm. Please contact Lyn Brown at 410-746-8276 if you're able to help or use the Register button to see our SignUp page. Remember to bring a chair, water, and wear your LWV paraphernalia (buttons, etc.).
