Location
You are cordially invited to join with some Delaware “good government” groups – Delaware Press Association, Delaware Coalition for Open Government (DelCOG), the League of Women Voters of Delaware (LWVDE) and the League of Women Voters of New Castle County (LWVNCC) – to attend the biennial Elected Officials Reception, a “meet and greet” with our elected State, County, and Municipal officials.
The reception, with cash bar, will be 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, December 5, 2022, at the Ed Oliver Golf Club, 800 North Dupont Road, Wilmington, Delaware.
Awards
A couple of well-deserved "Government for the People" awards will be presented at the reception.
Book Signing
This year's reception will feature a not-to-be-missed book signing with author John Riley, whose latest book, How He Played the Game, is a first-place state and national award-winning biography of Ed “Porky” Oliver, after whom our reception venue was named. One of the judges said:
The book's ebullient, punchy style mixes well with Ed Oliver's upbeat personality, and captures the joy he experienced when golfing, his mastery of the sport, his deep immersion in the game and his competitive nature that, combined with exceptional skill, accelerated him to the top of the golfing elite.
Mr. Riley also has won significant awards for Delaware Eyewitness, Behind the Scenes in the First State. Part memoir and part Delaware contemporary history, he features a "behind-the-scenes look at more than six decades of the people, places and events, in and around the First State."
