Please join us on Sunday, May 17 at Huxley and Hiro Booksellers, a community focused independent bookstore in historic downtown Wilmington located on 601 N Market St. The event will be held from 11am to 2pm with the opportunity to mingle and enjoy the book selections and unique gifts.
Adam from Dueling Rabbits coffee bar will be making those great drinks and we hope to have the best selection of pastries in town as well. More details to come (including online ordering options)... stay tuned!
At three pm, author Connie Matsumoto will be giving a talk about her book Of White Ashes. She will then open it up for any audience questions.

Former corporate executive and interior design devotee, Connie Matsumoto embraced creative writing to create her award-winning debut historical novel, Of White Ashes -- the story of two Japanese Americans whose lives are upended by Pearl Harbor and WWII, each navigating a tumultuous path to live the American dream.
Connie earned her B.A. from Notre Dame of MD University and M.S. from Johns Hopkins University. She serves as the President of the Women’s National Book Association Mid-Atlantic Chapter and a member of the Authors Guild, Eastern Shore Writers' Association, and Historical Novel Society.
Her upcoming 2026 non-fiction book, Fact & Fiction: How to Write a Novel Inspired by Family and History draws on her own journey from the executive suite to celebrated novelist.
