Celebrate Earth Day at LWVSCDE's Next League, Libations, and Learning Event

The Sussex LWV is pleased to present environmental attorney (ret.) and activist Mary Stewart Douglas speaking on "Delaware's Environment: the Good, the Bad, and the Scary." The event will begin at 5:30 with dinner (separate checks provided). LWVSCDE President Barb Hedges-Goettl will introduce Ms. Douglas. The presentation will conclude with a Q&A session. Mary Douglas is a retired environmental lawyer who worked in Washington DC in EPA's Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance, in the National Association of Clean Air Administrators, and in private practice. She now volunteers with the Advocacy Corps of the League of Women Voters of Delaware, serving as Chair of the Natural Resources Portfolio. In 2022, she spoke about Delaware's Climate Emergency for "League Days." As a registered lobbyist, she has testified before the Delaware Legislature on the Climate Change Solutions Act and the Delaware Energy Solutions Act of 2024. She has also testified before DNREC on electric cars and before the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management on offshore wind. In addition, Mary has spoken on behalf of People for Offshore Wind Energy Resources (POWER) before the Association of Coastal Towns, the Lewes City Council, and the Rehoboth Beach and Boardwalk Committee.
