LWVUS Position on Redistricting

The League of Women Voters believes responsibility for redistricting preferably should be vested in an independent special commission, with membership that reflects the diversity of the unit government, including citizens at large, representatives of public interest groups, and members of minority groups.

Every redistricting process should include:

The LWVDV supports public libraries as a basic service of government with adequate funding by local, state, and federal governments and supports free access by all persons to public library services.

The LWVDV supports incorporation of separate communities within the San Ramon Valley. The SRV members of the LWVDV favor the incorporation of Alamo.

The LWVDV supports high standards for campaigns.
