March 16 - The Wilmington Learning Collaborative: Prospects, Participants, Potential
A panel of five Delaware education leaders will discuss Governor Carney’s recent initiative for Delaware school districts, successful model programs in other states, the potential gains for teaching and learning, the value of innovative structures, and roles for parents and the public. The discussion will be moderated by Laurissa Schutt of First State Educate.
March 22 - LWVSC Offshore Wind Presentation
UD Professor Willett Kempton will speak to the Sussex County, Delaware League of Women Voters on March 22, 2022, and our Advocacy Corps Climate and Energy Committee thinks this is a perfect topic to bring forth as a League Day event. Offshore wind technology has leaped forward and the cost of power from offshore wind has dropped dramatically. This is a huge resource which can power our electric needs at cheap prices while creating well-paying jobs.
March 30, 2022 - The First 2000 Days for First State's First Learners: What We Know. What We Can Do.
Rodel's Madeleine Bayard, Chair of the Delaware Early Childhood Council, will give an overview of early childhood care and education in DE.

April 12, 2022: The Case for Declaring a Climate Emergency in Delaware
As part of the League of Women Voters of Delaware League Days 2022, the League is pleased to present a Zoom event on the need for climate emergency legislation in Delaware. 
James Fletcher, a Board-certified family medicine physician in Delaware and a member of a Medical Society Environmental Health and Diversity Committee, will share insights on the particular need for climate mitigation in underserved neighborhoods.
Mary Douglas, an environmental lawyer with extensive federal EPA and Clean Air Act experience, will tell listeners why a climate emergency declaration is justified.
Dustyn Thompson, Advocacy and Outreach Organizer with the Delaware Sierra Club, will tell us what we need to do to get there. He will outline greenhouse gas emission reduction goals and describe actions the state can take to implement these goals.
This presentation is open to all interested members and non-members. Legislators are particularly invited and welcome.

Virtual Panel Discussion
The LWVDE and ACLU-DE are in support of HB244 AND HA2 because they believe that court-ordered fines and fees have negatively impacted Delaware citizens by disproportionately affecting those with low-incomes and communities of color.
Haneef Salaam, Manager, Smart Justice Committee of the ACLU, Delaware. Haneef helps those who are released from prison become productive community members after going through that process himself.
Meryem Dede, Assistant Public Defender, practices as a trial attorney in Delaware's Public Defender's Office and serves as Coordinator of End Debtors Prison Campaign.
Representative Sean Lynn is a Democratic member of the House of Representatives and the sponsor of HB 244 that eliminates a number of fines and fees in juvenile delinquency proceedings, the public defender fee, and the probation supervision fee.
