The League of Women Voters of Volusia County (LWVVC) Voter Service team was busy connecting with voters at the festive DeLand Mardi Gras Dog Parade in DeLand on February 14. One of the day’s biggest highlights was our always-popular Favorite Dog Election, which continues to attract smiles, spark conversations, and inspire our next generation of young voters to experience the excitement of participating in an election.

And the winner is…
After all the votes were counted, the results are in:
Golden Retriever — 42 votes
French Bulldog — 34 votes
Samoyed — 21 votes

A total of 97 votes were cast, making this another fun and engaging way to demonstrate the voting process in action. Events like these help us connect with the community in meaningful ways while reinforcing the importance of civic participation — no matter your age (or whether you walk on two legs or four!).
