Join us for books, coffee, and pastries as we welcome Constance Hays Matsumoto, author of the award winning historical novel "Of White Ashes."  Connie's presentation and Q&A will begin at 3 pm.

Author, Leader, Lifelong Learner

Former corporate executive and interior design devotee, Connie Matsumoto embraced creative writing to create her award-winning debut historical novel, Of White Ashes -- the story of two Japanese Americans whose lives are upended by Pearl Harbor and WWII, each navigating a tumultuous path to live the American dream.

Connie earned her B.A. from Notre Dame of MD University and M.S. from Johns Hopkins University. She serves as the President of the Women’s National Book Association Mid-Atlantic Chapter and a member of the Authors Guild, Eastern Shore Writers' Association, and Historical Novel Society.

Her upcoming 2026 non-fiction book, Fact & Fiction: How to Write a Novel Inspired by Family and History draws on her own journey from the executive suite to celebrated novelist.
