Why does it matter that the state legislature is in session?
Unfortunately in 2026 balancing the state budget and finding funding for state programs and services will dominate the short (60 day) session in Olympia. This means cutting back on programs and services or finding additional funding. Decisions on what services to fund and where the money will come from effects our life and lifestyle in Washington State more than we think. Signing-up or our Legislative Newsletter provides an easy way to follow legislation and advocate for LWV priority bills.
