Why does it matter that the state legislature is in session?

Unfortunately in 2026 balancing the state budget and finding funding for state programs and services will dominate the short (60 day) session in Olympia. This means cutting back on programs and services or finding additional funding. Decisions on what services to fund and where the money will come from effects our life and lifestyle in Washington State more than we think. This is a comprehensive source for finding the text of bills, contacting your legislature. A daily calendar of hearings is provided.  

Find My District 

Here you can find what state legislative district you are in, identify your legislators and their contact information. You will also see which legislative committees they are on. This may be important if you support or oppose a legislation that has a hearing before their committee .

Finding a Bill  

Search a bill by number, bill sponsor, or text of the bill. You can also find the status or progression of the bill in the legislative process. There is a link to send a comment on the bill to your legislators.

Searching for Bills by Topic

Find a bill by subject or topic. You may set-up an account to recieve updates on where a bill is in the legislative process. 

House Members & Committees

If you are not sure who your House Representative is you can search by your address. House members contact information and their committee assignments are listed. All House of Representative Committees, committee members, and committee hearing schedules are listed.

Senate Members & Committees

TVW on cable chanel 25 shows hearings live but usually many hearings are happening simultaneously throughout the day. The TVW online link allows you to view recordings of hearings.
