• Start with the big Fall League Kick-Off event on September 21 – all Voters Service for the upcoming primary (March 2020 is sooner than you think) and general election. Like a lot of our other activities, it’s themed to our Anniversary celebrations – Women Power the Vote!
• Speaking of Anniversary celebrations, check out these links – our August 24 19th Amendment party, and two unusual suffragists from Shawn Gilbert’s “Suffragists You Should Meet” presentation, Tye Leung Schulze and Mabel Ping Hua-Lee. Our main Anniversary page has a growing list of links. And Suzan’s President’s Letter reminds us that this celebration is a great morale-booster!
• Catch up on information from our great Wildfire meeting in Walnut Creek with a report from reporter Gail Murray and some suggested resources for ways to get alerts. Don’t miss the opportunity to get funding for a neighborhood wildfire preparation project!
• Action/Advocacy is hopping, with an update on the Schools and Communities First initiative (heads-up on another signature-gathering effort), Action Alerts from LWV California on protecting voting rights for parolees and fighting plastic pollution, and an observer’s report on a recent meeting of the Antioch Unified School District.
• Mark your calendars now for National Voter Registration Day on September 24, and a scheduled taping on September 19 of a forum on Brentwood’s special election in November (timers and helpers needed). League members, watch your email for more information on both of these.

• Looking ahead to October, our monthly meeting on Saturday, October 19, will feature an afternoon interactive workshop presented by Martha Cox of the Kettering Institute on “What Kind of Talk Does Democracy Need?” Watch for the announcement as pre-registration will be required. And you may also want to register now for our next orientation meeting for members (and guests) on October 12.
