Before Friday, urge your legislators to do everything they can to ensure that the Connecticut Voting Rights Act (CTVRA) stays in the budget. The CTVRA is the nation’s most comprehensive state-level voting rights act. Yet, Connecticut voters face persistent barriers to equal participation for voters of color and people whose first language isn’t English. To remain the national leader and implement the CTVRA, Connecticut must adequately fund its protections in the 2025 biennial budget.

Please submit testimony for SB 17! The League of Women Voters of Connecticut supports funding to municipalities to cover their costs for early voting, as the requirements placed on towns for early voting caused unfunded mandates in many locations in 2024. But we can do better - municipalities should receive funds to support early voting and ensure that our elections are accessible to all Connecticut voters.

Voters deserve clear information when asked to vote on major changes in their town or city government. Please join us in submitting written testimony before March 7 in favor of Raised House Bill 7125. And if you ever voted on a ballot question about changing your town or city charter that used vague or confusing language, please mention it in your testimony.

Contact Speaker of the House Matt Ritter and ask him to support funding for Early Voting. Many worked for a decade to pass Early Voting in Connecticut, a landmark event that the Governor said would "improve the ability of voters to cast their ballots and enable more people to participate in our democracy". However without funding and support this hard fought right may not succeed.
