This year's One State One Film Series opens with the screening of "The Prison Within" (produced by Katherin Herve) and a virtual discussion panel on on Zoom. The film is about healing and breaking the cycle of mass incarceration. The film and panel discussion will challenge you to explore the impact mass incarceration has on individuals, families, and communities. This is a virtual zoom program with registration required.

LWV is turning 103 on February 14! Celebrate over a century of empowering voters and defending democracy by joining a virtual pep rally, alongside advocacy partners and special performers. Registration is recommended.

The theme of Fairfield University’s Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration – “Social Justice Now” – invokes this idea of the “now” and invites us to consider what it means in 2023. In light of our current challenges – from climate change to the persistence of white supremacy, the suppression of voting rights, and ongoing struggles against racial inequities - Dr. King’s warned against taking “the tranquilizing drug of gradualism” and urged us to choose action against complacency and pessimism. The Convocation Speaker, Karsonya “Kaye” Wise Whitehead is the founding director of The Karson Institute for Race, Peace & Social Justice and an associate professor of communication and African and African American Studies at Loyola University Maryland. Join LWV Greenwich for a conversation with David Lehman, former Senior Economic Advisor to Governor Lamont and Commissioner of the CT Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD).
