If you have ever wondered where the weeping Cypress and Poinciana tree paintings that define popular images of Florida got their start, come hear the Highwaymen chronicler tell their stories on Thursday, February 9th. The Highwaymen Artists are a group of mostly self-taught African-American painters who began creating Florida landscapes in the 1950s and ‘60s. What began as inexpensive pieces of art are now popular with serious collectors. Not only will Gary Moore tell us about these famous artists’ lives, but there will also be a gallery of Highwayman paintings, graciously donated for the evening for our viewing pleasure. RSVP to Carla Christianson, reclaim4all [at] gmail.com by Wednesday, February 6th. She will tell you how to submit your check in a return email.
