On October 8, a panel from the Volusia Remembers Coalition will speak to us about their efforts to
explore racial justice and healing. The mission of this group is to remember, acknowledge and reflect upon our history of racial terror. In April 2020, Volusia Remembers officially became a Community Partner of the Equal Justice Initiative.

Panel members will tell us how, through this partnership, they began soil collection for a ceremony
honoring 1896 racial terror lynching victims Mr. Charles Harris and Mr. Anthony Johnson. The September 17, 2022 ceremony program shed light on Mr. Harris and Mr. Johnson's humanity and the miscarriage of justice they suffered at the hands of a white mob near what is today, Osteen.

If you wish to join us for lunch after, we will be going to: Lulu’s Oceanside Grill, 30 South Atlantic
Avenue, Ormond Beach, FL 32176. Please RSVP by October 6 th to Jeanne Tanke: jeanne622lwvvc [at] gmail.com
