LWV Wheaton Teaches Importance of Voting Through Mock Elections

One of the most important functions of the League of Women voters is to engage and motivate our youth to participate in our Democracy. Every two years the League holds mock elections at high schools in our service area that allow students to vote on the major candidates in the November Election. Students get to use actual voting machines and ballots. We have found that this experience allows the students to vote with confidence when they are of voting age.

This year we held mock elections at West Chicago, Wheaton Warrenville South, Glenbard North and Wheaton North High Schools. We've had so much fun sharing the excitement and importance of voting with our local high schoolers through the week by helping out with mock elections. Thanks so much to all of our league members who have volunteered to help out! It is inspiring to see our future voters in action!
