Cantigny Park and Leagues of Women Voters of Wheaton, Greater Kane County and Roselle/Bloomingdale and Glen Ellyn in honor of commemorating the Constitution invite you to a Community Discussion centered around a pivotal debate at the Constitutional Convention of 1787.

  • Should the federal government have veto power over state laws?
  • How much power - and what kind of power - should the federal government have over states?

These are questions that have both historical significance and modern resonance.  Participants will read a short case in advance of the event and come prepared to discuss it.

The moderator will be Edwin Noel, social studies department chair at Benet Academy and is an Illinois partner with the Harvard Case Study Project.

Guests who wish to join virtually will be placed into breakout rooms with other guests and discussion will be moderated by a member of the League of Women Voters.
