Fabric-based crafts are a powerful tool to broadcast messages supporting key rights and concerns and political statements. A group of local artists and activists, in collaboration with The League of Women Voters of Wisconsin, invite caring supporters of the democratic process to join them in an act of "craftivism" encouraging Madisonians to have their vote counted in the November elections!
No particular skills are required other than the desire to inspire others to act in the interest of all. Lead artists Chele Isaac and Kelly Parks Snider will join the community participants to create "get out and vote" yarn-bomb cozies that will be installed as a one-of-a-kind activist, public art installation in Madison. Come one, come all, and be a part of art in action!
Join us for two maker workshops at Arts + Literature Laboratory:
October 7 and 14
10 AM - 2 PM
We will have supplies available, but please feel free to bring yarn, sewing needles, or crochet hooks of your own to work with. If you happen to have any old acrylic blankets that you would like to give up for the cause, bring them on in as well!
