Join the League of Women Voters of Milwaukee County for the second event of its "Lunch and Learn" series, part of a celebration around Women's History Month. This event will feature Eloisa Gómez, a community activist, educator and author.
Eloisa Gómez will discuss “Milwaukee’s Latino/Latinx Electorate: Who We Are and Our Potential." She is Chair and a founding member of LWVMC’s Comité por el Voto Latino/Latinx Voter Outreach (CVL-LVO), a committee focused on expanding voter education and registration on Milwaukee’s South Side. Eloisa is also the co-author of Somos Latinas: Voices of Wisconsin Latina Activists, with
Andrea-Teresa Arenas. The book shares powerful narratives of 25 older outspoken demonstrators, collaboration-builders and behind-the-scenes activists who worked for change. Eloisa will highlight strategies, challenges and opportunities these veteran activists faced, not unlike those faced by today’s voter advocates working in Milwaukee’s Latinx communities.
