Greetings to my fellow Leaguers –

When this newsletter comes out, we will be en route to Morehead City for a successful LWVNC Council meeting, with the Carteret League assisting us in our planning. Thank you to everyone who stepped up to the plate to organize Council, and thanks to all who are joining us. We will send out a separate Council newsletter soon for you to see photos and get some details about what the sessions covered.

I was recently made aware that we have lost League members this past year either due to COVID or other reasons. It's hard to see this happen; however, we know that it is part of living. I want to express my sympathy to the local Leagues that lost members. Keep in touch – we are all a family.

We have not finished our fights in the courts or in our communities regarding redistricting and voter suppression. We must constantly watch our governmental bodies and work with them on suggestions that may help all communities see themselves in their governments.

It's hard to believe that April is here, and with it comes preparations for annual meetings. If you need assistance, please contact your State Board. We are here for you.

The Nominating Committee will contact you to see if any of you have a desire to become a part of LWVNC’s board of directors. We have worked so hard on many issues and had many successes. The whole purpose of the State Board is to be the supporter for you!

So step up and join our movement! It's rewarding, with long meetings (but good) and challenging decisions in a quest for positive changes!

Thanks, and have a great spring!

Jo Nicholas, President, LWVNC, Inc.
