Aug. 25 – Omnibus Elections Bill  

Aug. 9 – Bills impacting public education 

June 26 – LWVNC’s testimony to the N.C. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Reform

June 5 ­– The N.C. State Board of Elections’ implementation of SL 2018-144, which the N.C. Supreme Court reinstated in the recent Holmes v. Moore decision. And the introduction of SB 747, Election Law Changes Act.

May 25 – House Bill 259 (2023 Appropriations Act) and how it falls short of what is needed to support election infrastructure and provide the critical funding that is needed to implement Voter ID for the fall 2023 municipal elections. 

May 22 – N.C. Senate Budget 

May 8 ­– N.C. Supreme Court reversing earlier decisions on three important cases: Holmes v. Moore (voter ID), Harper v. Hall (partisan redistricting), and CSI v. Moore (voting rights restoration for citizens with a felony conviction). Plus, Crossover week in the General Assembly. 

May 4 – 12-week abortion ban 

April 17 – N.C. House Budget (HB259) 

April 3 – HB259 (House Budget) and HB304, which eliminates the three-day delivery deadline for absentee ballots

March 20 – Bills impacting voting 

March 13 ­– Election-related bills: the good, the bad, the ugly

Feb. 28 – While some bills we support have been introduced (HB191 Popular Election, SB142 Make Corporations Pay Fair Share), others not so much (187 Equality in Education). 

Feb. 13 – Some controversial bills that have made it to a floor vote already.

Feb. 6 – On being strategic in our outreach
