#iVoted & League of Women Voters Milwaukee County Announce FREE Dead Horses & Wave Chapelle Concert at Nō Studios for National Voter Registration Day

(Milwaukee, WI - September 11th, 2023) - #iVoted, the non-partisan national non-profit that activates concert venues to let fans in on election nights who show a selfie from outside their polling place, is in Milwaukee for National Voter Registration Day to increase and support voter registration in advance of next year's elections. To celebrate this civic holiday, Dead Horses and Milwaukee Bucks’ ambassador Wave Chapelle will be performing a free show at Nō Studios in the Deer District that the public can enter by checking one’s registration at the door with the option to register at the venue if they aren’t already. Underage and future voters are engaged and can enter by letting the venue know what election they will be 18 for and why they’re excited to vote. Non-citizens and those ineligible to vote enter by letting the venue know why they’re excited to attend. The evening will open with a panel conversation featuring All Voting is Local Wisconsin’s Bianca Shaw and League of Women Voters of Milwaukee County’s Peggy Creer.

“We’re all coming off a high of incredible turnout in Wisconsin’s 2023 spring election for the state supreme court and more. Despite these historic numbers and enthusiasm for voting, I was disheartened to learn that Milwaukee lagged much of the rest of the state in voter turnout. League of Women Voters of Milwaukee County is a crucial organization on the ground who informed me of this which is why we’re putting our efforts into producing our first ever voter registration show with the #iVoted model,” says #iVoted Founder / CEO and Wisconsinite Emily White. Adds League of Women Voters of Milwaukee County (LWVMC)’s Director of Communications Peggy Creer, “We're used to close elections in WI, so that's a great incentive to vote. We have four statewide elections in 2024, including many local races, where elected officials have a direct impact on the quality of life in our communities. Our volunteers are working hard to boost voter turnout, especially among young people, who tend to vote in smaller numbers than older voters.”
