Congratulations to all of you who worked hard to make VOTE411 data available to voters in municipal elections. It is so important that our flagship voter assistance platform has accurate candidate and voter information, and I know how much work goes into making that happen.

You received a notification about LWVNC’s participation in a lawsuit challenging an aspect of SB747 that negatively impacts the ability of young voters to cast a ballot. We joined Democracy NC and the NC Black Alliance, with legal support from the Southern Coalition for Social Justice, to file this lawsuit. You may see the full filing here.
We had a fantastic Eastern Regional Meeting in October, with representatives from Dare, Northeastern North Carolina, Lower Cape Fear, Onslow, and Carteret Leagues. We shared information about voting legislation and the new LWV dues structure and had very useful discussions about issues of importance, including the challenges to being non-partisan in this hyper-partisan political environment.
We are planning the next two regional meetings. The Central Region meeting (Wayne, Mid Sandhills, Moore, Wake, ODC, Twin Counties, Granville, and Piedmont Triad) will be held on Jan. 26 in Greensboro. The Western Region meeting will be held on April 27 in Hickory (Charlotte-Mecklenburg, Catawba Valley, Asheville-Buncombe, and Henderson). We will provide much more information about these important opportunities to gather in small groups and share resources.
Also on your calendar should be the LWV training opportunity, Power the South. More information about this meeting will be forthcoming. It will be in Greensboro on Jan. 26 and 27. These will all be great opportunities to network and build energy for a challenging year ahead.
