On Saturday, April 5th, the League of Women Voters is coming together in partnership with democracy-focused organizations to rally against the destruction of our government and our economy and our rights with a clear message: HANDS OFF!
In Delaware County we will gather at 12:30 PM in front of the Delaware County Courthouse, 201 W. Front Street, Media. Whether you're outraged by skyrocketing healthcare costs, job cuts, attacks on privacy, voter suppression, or the gutting of essential services—this moment is for you.
Attendees are encouraged to bring signs - HANDS OFF (followed by what is important to you in this moment of crisis) Make your message visible! (Ideas: “HANDS OFF MEDICAID!,” “HANDS OFF OUR DATA!”, “HANDS OFF DEMOCRACY!”, “HANDS OFF SCHOOLS!”)
Desiree Murphy Morrissey, will be speaking to how cuts in USDA grants are going to impact the ability of organizations to support the vulnerable in our Delco community.
The League of Women Voters will have a table to share voter information plus voter registration materials. STOP VOTER SUPPRESSION.
If you're coming to the Hands Off event at the Media Courthouse, Delco Indivisible will have a table to accept contributions for Murphy's Giving Market in Upper Darby. Murphy’s Giving Market is a largely volunteer organization that primarily serves people in poverty in Upper Darby and surrounding areas. They provide fresh, healthful, and culturally appropriate food options, clothing, and hygiene products; facilitate access to a wide network of resources; and empower clients to create long-lasting changes in their lives and communities. They also welcome donations of nonperishable food and hygiene products such as sanitary pads, adult diapers, baby diapers, soap, deodorant, rice, pasta, spices, toothpaste and toothbrushes.

NOTE: A core principle behind all Hands Off! events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
