Resources and Actions to Protect our Immigrant Communities

Immigrants' rights are human rights

The League Stands with Immigrant Communities

The League of Women Voters of Wisconsin stands firmly in solidarity with Wisconsin's immigrant communities. Attacks on one of us is an attack on all of us. Wisconsin is stronger when our communities and families are brought together rather than divided. We must Unite & Rise to defend our democracy and stand up for the rights of ALL Wisconsinites.

Immigration is stitched into the very fabric of this country, with most of us being immigrants who live alongside and with the land’s Tribal Nations. But the alarming xenophobia being carried out in our names, including neighbors and friends deported without due process or accountability, goes against that fact and against the social, cultural, and economic benefit of the United States. Immigration is not the enemy, but that idea can be difficult to convey to those who can’t imagine an effective, compassionate system.

LWV's Position on Immigration

“The League of Women Voters believes that immigration policies should promote reunification of immediate families; meet the economic, business, and employment needs of the United States; and be responsive to those facing political persecution or humanitarian crises.”
