On June 16, League of Women Voters of North Carolina President Jennifer McMillan Rubin joined advocates, election stakeholders, and community leaders at a press conference regarding House Bill 958, a wide-ranging elections bill currently under consideration by the General Assembly.
The legislation includes provisions affecting voter registration, voter eligibility reviews, election administration, absentee voting, voter notification procedures, campaign finance reporting, and other aspects of North Carolina's election system.
Following its approval in the House, HB 958 is expected to be considered by the North Carolina Senate on June 17.
As the bill moves through the legislative process, the League continues to evaluate its provisions through the lens of voter access, election accuracy, election security, transparency, effective election administration, and the impact of proposed changes on eligible voters.
