NewsOct. 12, 2021 – It is critical that we, the people, contact NC legislators about including Medicaid Expansion in the budget this year. Please email this action alert to all North Carolinians in your network who care about accessible, affordable health care. And don't forget to use the link below to register your support for Medicaid expansion, too! Here is a sample of what you can forward to your contacts. Dear [Friend], It's time for the NC General Assembly to fund Medicaid Expansion that will help people now and for the long term. As we continue to fight a pandemic that has killed one in every 500 Americans, we need our state lawmakers to make sure that our uninsured frontline workers can access affordable health care by expanding Medicaid through negotiations in the budget conference report. If North Carolina expands Medicaid, more than 600,000 North Carolinians, 60 percent of whom are people of color, would finally be able to access the care they need to fill their prescriptions, see a doctor, and live without the fear of medical bankruptcy. Elected leaders should budget with the people’s priorities in mind and solve the challenges we face as a state so that we can be more resilient as future crises arise. By not expanding Medicaid, the House and Senate budget proposals threaten our future by holding back investments needed to provide for accessible, affordable health care. Our state's well-being depends on it. Budget discussions are underway now among Gov. Cooper and House and Senate leaders, and we need to make sure that our legislative leaders fund Medicaid Expansion. NC Justice Center, a statewide coalition of advocacy organizations and supporters, which includes members of the League of Women Voters of North Carolina, has provided this link for you to contact your legislators. Sincerely, [NAME] |
