Dear Friends of the League,

What a year this has been for the voters of North Carolina! First, I want to thank you very much for the contributions you have made to support our initiatives for the people of our state. It’s that time again where we need your continued generosity to help us carry out our mission of Empowering Voters and Defending Democracy!

We have accomplished many things this past year:

– We built strong League capacity to help inform our communities about voting opportunities and our election processes. We created YouTube videos on what happens to your ballot once you vote, how to best utilize VOTE411, what takes place during the transparent Canvass process immediately following the election, and more.

– We led the charge in speaking out against a “signature-matching proposal” that came before the State Board of Elections. Ultimately, the NCSBE rejected this request, which had the potential to invalidate legitimate absentee ballots.

– We invested in making sure our VOTE411.org voters’ guide was made available in all areas of the state. Many Leagues worked tirelessly in their communities to bring more visibility to this valuable tool.

– We reached out to our young voters in high schools, community colleges, and universities – to make them aware of the power of their votes.

– We made a concerted effort to apply for and distribute grant money to local Leagues throughout the state to be used to counter election falsehoods, share candidate information, inform voters about the secure voting process in North Carolina, observe county board of election meetings, and more.

– Our local Leagues have held many forums on election disinformation to make sure the public is aware of how these falsehoods could undermine democracy.

– Our Board spoke out against the attack on our ability to make our own reproductive decisions, with a letter appearing in the News & Observer in May.

– The education action team helped keep the focus on adequately funding our public schools and the Leandro plan.

– We are visible throughout the state and continue to fight for all of the people of North Carolina.

These achievements were made possible by your contributions, which assisted us in making our programs come alive.

We are asking for your help again to further our mission. Please take time and partner with us! Please go to our website and donate whatever you can. Or send your contribution to our office address: LWVNC, 3509 Haworth Drive, Suite 206, Raleigh, NC, 27609.

We thank you in advance.

Best,

Jo Nicholas
