Greetings my fellow Leaguers –

Where is the summer going? I know that many of you have changed leadership with new people coming on board. It's an exciting and challenging time for the League. Know that we, the State Board, are here for you whenever you need us.

We have been keeping an eye on things nationally, as well as statewide and locally, on redistricting and voting bills that will suppress our right to vote as well as educational and environmental issues. So many things are coming down the pike! We will keep you informed.

Look for information about two Oct. 7 events in Greensboro on the old County Courthouse grounds. First, a monument will be dedicated to the first president of LWVNC, Gertrude Weil. A second marker – a national historic suffragette trail marker – will be unveiled also in Weil's remembrance. Plans are underway, and details will be shared soon.

I know you are trying to relax a little. I look forward to continuing my services for another two years with you. Thanks for all of your continued support.

It takes a team for the League of Women Voters of North Carolina to be visible and work together on issues that are affecting our communities.

Stay cool and keep moving forward!

In League,

Jo Nicholas, President, LWVNC, Inc.
