Greetings my fellow Leaguers –

A new year has started for our leagues. There is so much going on in the nation as well as our state and our personal lives. The pandemic continues to rear its ugly head. We thought we might be able to meet in person, but then things changed. That day will come eventually!

Your State Board has been hard at work keeping you up to date with redistricting information, voting happenings in the state, as well as ERA information. Several of you have "stepped up" to the plate to help us organize our revision of the LATs in the state. Thank you for that. Your Board needs YOU!

I spoke at the final redistricting hearing on Sept. 30. Here’s what I said, in part, to our legislators:

“As we enter this next phase of redistricting, North Carolinians deserve nothing less than a participatory, inclusive, and transparent process. Now is the time for you to rise to the level demanded by your constituents. The League challenges you to draw maps that reflect the vibrancy and diversity of NC and in such a manner that ensures a trustworthy process.”

It takes all of us working together to make democracy work for all North Carolinians! Keep up your great work, but at the same time stay safe!

Thanks again for all you are doing.

In League,

Jo Nicholas, President, LWVNC, Inc.
