May 2, 2025 – The League of Women Voters of North Carolina is concerned by the recent anonymous decision by a three-judge panel on the North Carolina Court of Appeals that unwisely shifts power to appoint board of elections members from the Governor to the state auditor. This shadowy and blatantly partisan rewrite of election procedures sets a dangerous precedent for elections in North Carolina.

LWVNC is concerned that this move could make it easier for the will of North Carolina voters to be overturned in the November 2024 NC Supreme Court race, which is currently being challenged by losing candidate Griffin. LWVNC is proud to continue its fight in the courts to protect those voters and to advocate for a more transparent and equitable elections structure.
