 Friends of the League –

First, a statement about the recent events in Minnesota. We grieve the death of George Floyd and all the Black lives lost as a result of rogue law enforcement. We stand in solidarity with the Black community and abhor racism in all of its forms. LWVNC joins the LWVUS in the belief that the perpetuation of the myth of white supremacy must be dismantled if we are ever to achieve a nation providing liberty and justice for all.

I know all of you are getting ready to have your annual meetings either via teleconferencing, virtual meeting, or by email or the postal service. I want to wish you much success in these trying times. Just make sure you document everything for your records – and most importantly date it! It's the pandemic year!

I also know that you are beginning to think about your future planning for the new year. Our citizens will be looking for us to give them guidance about the November election. Steer them to VOTE411.org. Publicize the site – it is most helpful for our voters. You have been hearing from our Voters Service Director, Marian Lewin, giving you up-to-date information as she gets it from the Board of Elections. Keep in touch.

Our ERA Team was given a grant to work on messaging about the passage of the ERA in our state. We must be successful with this endeavor! Keep it going!

I just want to say thank you to everyone who has made your Leagues successful and thank you for supporting your State League. We are all in this together as ONE team!  We are here for you – call anytime. Keep up the great work and be safe!

In League,

Jo Nicholas, President, LWVNC, Inc.
