Dear Friends of the League,
On behalf of the League of Women Voters of North Carolina, I want to thank you for your continued support. Our top priority has been to make sure that all North Carolinians have the right to vote without any interference as well as to harness the energy of our members on issues of importance to our citizens: education, environment, redistricting, equal rights for all, health care, and more.
A bit more about our recent efforts: We made sure that all citizens had the right to vote safely and securely during the pandemic. The League was instrumental in assuring that the State Board of Elections devised a “curing” process so that mistakes on mail-in ballots could be corrected and ballots would not be voided. The remarkable BallotTrax program enabled citizens to track their mail-in ballot to ensure it was received.
Our voting tool, VOTE411.org, helped thousands of North Carolinians find polling locations, see sample ballots, read candidate interviews, and more. We continue to improve this valuable tool for our voters with each election cycle.
We have also been very visible in the current redistricting process, as new maps are drawn for the next decade. We demanded transparency and public participation in this important process.
The League believes all children in North Carolina should be given a free public education without any interference in their studies. Children have lost a huge amount of in-class learning since 2020 and have suffered the consequences. We must make sure that the state funds public education at the level mandated by the courts, so that all students can excel.
Our environment is being impacted by climate change, as evidenced by sea level rises on our coast. League members around the state are working to preserve our natural resources.
We can’t continue this vital work alone. We need your help. Your contributions have enabled us to achieve so much for the people of North Carolina. We are a volunteer organization – fueled by the conviction of our members and your donations – that’s working hard for our citizens. We appreciate your support of our fantastic local Leagues, and we hope you will also donate to LWVNC as we monitor statewide concerns and help to mobilize citizens around the issues that are most critical to them.
Join us in our vision for free elections, fair districts, a clean environment, quality education, equality for all, and more. Please send whatever contribution you can to 3509 Haworth Drive, Suite 206, Raleigh, NC 27609 or donate here. Thank you in advance for your partnership!
