North Carolina is at a critical crossroads in the funding of our public schools. Districts across the state are struggling to do more with less. The pandemic has highlighted issues of equity of concern to all.

Join us as we discuss the Leandro court case and what North Carolinians must do to ensure all children receive a sound, basic education as promised in our state constitution. This virtual event is hosted by the League of Women Voters of NC.

Lynn Edmonds, Outreach Director of Public Schools First, NC will speak about how the recommendations of the WestEd Report can inform the 1997 Leandro decision in which the NC Supreme Court declared that all students are entitled to receive a “sound basic education.”

Planned by a network of local LWV members from:

· Orange, Durham and Chatham Counties

· Charlotte-Mecklenburg

· Lower Cape Fear

Co-sponsored by the Chatham Education Foundation and the League of Women Voters of NC.
