The Good Trouble Lives On: Voting Rights Vigil is being held on Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Be Woke. Vote Mural located at the corner of W 5th Street and Avenue of the States, Chester, PA. This vigil is part of a national day of nonviolent action, one of thousands marking the anniversary of Congressman John Lewis’ passing. We are hosting a Good Trouble Lives On Voting Vigil to demand that Congress protect our freedom to vote, stand up to authoritarianism, and fight back against attacks on our communities. Lewis, who was beaten badly on the March to Selma, Alabama, in 1965, spent the rest of his life, as a citizen and congressman, fighting for voting rights for all. He always said he made "good trouble."

The vigil will feature the Be Woke. Vote Mural by Alloyius Mcilwaine who states that the mural was a commission from Be Woke. Vote with the theme centered on getting people out to vote. He shared,

Since women are always at the forefront of pushing forward progressive change, I wanted to paint a woman doing a call to action. I surrounded the woman with positive words and symbols, including my signature Kudoglyphs, which are positive affirmations in symbol form.  I filled the image with symbols that represent growth, energy, love, self-worth, building, and more.

Join us to protect our freedom to vote. Bring a source of light to shine a “Light For Our Democracy”.
