Join us for the Health Hot Topic - Moms Need Healthcare Access: They’re Dying Without It on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Noon via Zoom.
This Health Hot Topic will focus on the urgency of ensuring comprehensive women’s healthcare access in the upcoming election cycle, including considering restrictions on reproductive rights being imposed by many state legislatures, and the judicial outcomes we anticipate in Pennsylvania related to this issue.

Amal Bass, JD, Director of Advocacy and Policy at the Women’s Law Project

Sara Jann, Senior Director of Policy and Advocacy at the Maternity Care Coalition
Amal Bass is with the Women’s Law Project in Philadelphia and provides legal representation and engages in public policy advocacy in such areas as pregnancy/caretaking, discrimination and accommodation, Title IX athletic equity and sexual harassment, and employment rights. She received her BA from Yale College and her JD from Harvard Law School.
Sara Jann advocates for maternal child health, early care and education, and economic security policies that are equitable and responsive to parents’ and babies’ lived experiences. She leads the Thriving PA’s Perinatal Health Advocacy Campaign. Thriving PA is a non-partisan, statewide campaign that seeks to improve the quality of and increase equitable access to a coordinated system of health supports She also represents MCC on the Childhood Begins at Home Campaign and the Family Care Act Campaign. She has a background in public benefits access, and earned her master’s degree in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Delaware.
