The Affordable Housing & Homelessness Solutions Committee is very concerned about the recent proposals that have been discussed in both the Spokane City Council and Spokane City Administration. These proposals are more restrictive and do not provide any alternatives for those that are experiencing homelessness in our city. We understand businesses and residents are concerned about the downtown area. We agree a solution must be found. We do not feel passing ordinances to punish and ban people from public areas is a purposeful solution if it does not include safe alternative locations.
