“Makin’ Cake” features Poet Laureate Dasha Kelly Hamilton - writer, performer, facilitator, mother, daughter, sister, builder, dreamer, phenomenon, change agent, and Milwaukee’s 2021 Artist of the Year. Dasha compassionately pushes us to think about our community, what we do, where do we connect, and what are our concerns? Through her amazing artistry, she creates performances that bring communities together. The show serves up a unique experience and a conversation about America’s history of baking, women’s advocacy, and its pathway to connecting communities. It is storytelling in layers and filled with aha moments and poignant vignettes, digital media, and a supporting cast of two on-stage bakers. “Makin’ Cake” also includes a cake reception following the performance.
